Seymour’s Best Buddy Dog Treats serves up healthy snacks

The little building at 10131 Chapman Highway in Seymour has been a candy store and many other things, but the latest iteration, Best Buddy Dog Treats, could be its sweetest concept yet.

When Ashley Holstine’s pup Chance died of liver failure, she could not help but feel that a spate of pet food recalls may have contributed.

“I was curious if that had anything to do with it,” she said. “I started researching and understanding dog nutrition. We really don’t know what is in their food.”

Soon, Holstine was making her own dog food and discovered that she loved doing it. “A lot of comments that I got were that it looked like real food, people saying ‘This looks like something I could eat.’ It includes different veggies that are healthy, fats, and proteins.”
